Bulma Briefs is the second character to be introduced into the Dragonball series. She ran into Goku while looking for the dragonballs so she could wish for a boyfriend, and after she found out that he had the fifth dragonball, she became his friend for life.

Bulma’s father is Dr. Briefs, the owner of Capsule Corporation, which is a company that makes capsules about the size of your thumb that explode to form any kind of mechanical contraption. This explains why she’s so good with mechanics. Some of her inventions are the dragonball radar (a device used to locate dragonballs), and the time machine she used to send her son Trunks back to the past.

Yamcha was Bulma’s first boyfriend in the series though later she ends up with Vegeta, with whom she has two children, Trunks and Bura. Bulma is extremely self absorbed and often complains about the simplest things, but in the end her heart is always in the right place.

Vegeta was once prince of the planet Vegeta. His father was King Vegeta and his mother is unknown. Saiyans are a bloodthirsty race and Vegeta was a fine example of one. When he was young, a creature named Furiza took over planet Vegeta, and later destroyed it and everyone on it.. luckily, (or unluckily) Vegeta was on Furiza’s ship at the time, and did not die with the rest of the Saiyans.

Vegeta, with the two other Saiyans who had survived, Raditsu and Nappa, was under Furiza’s control for many years, until Raditsu was sent to Earth to find his brother, Goku, and was destroyed, but not before he let Vegeta and Nappa know about the dragonballs. Hungry for power, they set a course for Earth, only to find they were no match for Goku.

Vegeta killed Nappa after making a fool of himself, but despite how strong he was compared to his partner, Goku still beat him, and Vegeta left Earth already planning his revenge. After another unlikely turn of events on the planet Namek, Vegeta ended up back on Earth, and eventually learned to put up with all the “weak Humans.”

Vegeta first goes Super Saiyan while fighting androids #19 and #20, and has two children, Trunks and Bura, with the most unlikely person, Bulma. I would say that Vegeta has the worst luck out of everyone in the series.

Introduction/Background
When Kami looked to become Earth’s next God/Guardian, he must rid himself of all evil. Through a personal battle, Kami splits himself into two beings; one good and the other evil. The evil half becomes Piccolo-Daimoa, a creature who thrives on destruction.

Although, sharing Kami’s life force, he is unable to kill his own twin without wiping out himself. When Piccolo-Daimoa is defeated by Goku, he coughs up a single egg, passing on his life force and bonds to it. This new life force becomes Piccolo.

Information
Piccolo was spawned from the original Piccolo Daimaou, who was the evil half of Kami Sama, guardian of Earth. Piccolo was evil too, at least he started out that way. He was born with his father’s memories. After he saw the hatred between Goku and his father, he took it upon himself to take revenge on Goku. He tried everything, but there didn’t seem a way to defeat Goku. Before Raditz appeared on Earth, Piccolo was still Goku’s arch enemy.

After Raditz’s arrival to Earth and his havoc wreckage on Earth, Piccolo and Goku teamed up in order to overcome Raditz’s tremendous power. They were able to kill Raditz, but with the expense of Goku’s life. Goku’s sacrifice made Piccolo realize how much of a great person he really was. After he heard Raditz tell him of the future arrival of two even stronger Saiya-jins, he decided to take Gohan to train him because Gohan showed tremendous power when he head butted Raditz.

Piccolo trains Gohan and grows to love him, letting the good deep down inside him shine through. Gohan’s child-like innocence changes Piccolo for the better. They developed a very close relationship and Piccolo becomes almost a father-figure to Gohan. Piccolo even sacrificed his own life to save Gohan from Nappa’s blast.

During the Freeza saga, Piccolo fuses with Nail, doubling his own power. During the Cell Game, he re-emerged with Kami. At that time he was the strongest Z fighter. During Dragonball GT, Piccolo stays and dies on Earth due to the love of his home.

Introduction
Future Trunks is the disciplined and noble warrior from the future who aids the warriors in the battle against the androids. He’s a bit shy, but is never one to shy away from a fight if he can make a difference in any way.

Life Story
After Goku died of a powerful heart virus, the world was left without a great hero to aid in the approaching android menace. The few, who were left, such as Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, etc., were all killed in the battle. Only Gohan was able to escape.

All of this happened while Trunks was still a baby, so he never had a chance to meet his father, or had the chance to see the Earth as a peaceful place. Having assessed the situation of the artificial human plague, and hearing the amazing stories of Goku, he made it his mission to become a Super Saiya-jin, and help defeat the androids.

With the help of his mentor, and now SSJ, Gohan, he trained to attain the level of power needed for the Super Saiya-jin level. He was not able to attain it despite his valiant efforts. He fought with Gohan against the androids, but the two were badly beaten. When the androids were seen attacking a nearby city a short time later, Gohan left Trunks behind since, if the earlier battle was any indication, he wasn’t ready for battle.

Trunks, having been knocked unconscious by Gohan, in order to make sure he stayed put, awoke to find his master nowhere to be found. He quickly headed to the site where he had been prepared to fight alongside his partner. He entered the destroyed, rainy city, and found Gohan, dead among the rubble. His anger, sorrow, and disgust fueled his rage, and in a mighty blast, he turned Super Saiya-jin for the first time.

Four years later, he used a Capsule Corp. time machine to return to the past. He couldn’t change anything in his timeline, but his mother requested that he do it. Besides, he wanted to meet his dad, and his hero, Goku anyway. His mission there was to kill King Kold and Freezer, and give Goku heart medicine to insure that this timeline wouldn’t become as horrible as his own. He succeeded, and after warning Goku about the androids, went back to his timeline.

Three years later, the now 20 year old Trunks returned to help the others fight the androids. It was revealed that the androids the others had been fighting were not the ones of Trunks’ reality. Not only that, but even more powerful creature, Cell was revealed, edging the others to gain more power. Goku, having recovered from his virus, showed Trunks and Vegeta the Room of Spirit and time, where time was bent, allowing for a years training in one day. Trunks and Vegeta trained, and seemingly reached a new SSJ level.

Trunks eventually ended up fighting Cell. Even with his new level of power, Cell, in his perfect form after assimilating Androids 17 and 18 was too great a threat. The limitations in speed were too much, and he had to pull away.

During the Tenkaichi Boudakai Cell set up to decide the fate of Earth, Trunks played only a small role. He was subjected to fights with Cell Juniors, tiny versions of Cell that shared his massive strength.

When Cell was seemingly defeated, A blast came from the sky, and pierced through Trunks’ heart, killing him instantly. Not to fear though, as Gohan, having reached Super Saiya-jin level 2, did kill Cell, allowing the others to revive him with the dragonballs.

With this, Trunks prepares to return to his timeline, having helped save the world. He’d even gained the respect of his father, which was perhaps his biggest victory

Information
Krillin is Goku’s best friend. He and Goku were both trained by Master Roshi immediately after the Pilaf Era of Dragonball. They were rivals at first, but quickly became friends. Much like Master Roshi, Krillin is a huge pervert. In fact, he gave Master Roshi a porno magazine just to be trained.

Krillin entered the Tenkaichi Budokai tournament many times, but has never won. He is the strongest human on Earth, but he can’t measure up to the power of Saiya-jins and the monsters they fight. Krillin was barely helpful in the Cell Era, and he became much weaker in the Buu Era.

Krillin is a very short man. He’s bald until the Buu Era of Dragonball Z. Despite popular beliefs, he chooses to shave his head because he is a monk. That is also why he has the 6 dots on his head. All of the monks like Krillin have shaved their heads similarly, as some of the other monks Krillin trained with met up with him at the Tenkaichi Budokai. In the Buu Era, he grows some black hair, and in GT he has gray hair and a moustache. One of the most interesting thing about his appearance is that he does not have a nose. It is said that he breathes through the six dots on his head.

All Krillin really wants is a girlfriend. He mentioned this on numerous occasions, but all of which were removed from the dub. In the Garlic Jr. Saga, he has a dead ringer for Bulma named Marron as his girlfriend. She leaves him at the beginning of the Android Saga, though. Sometime between the Cell and Buu eras, Krillin marries Android #18. Android #18 is the one who convinced Krillin to stop shaving his head. They have a daughter named Marron (yes…he named his daughter after his ex-girlfriend) who accompanies them to the Tenkaichi Budokai, and shows up in GT a bit.

Krillin dies 3 times; once in each series. In Dragonball, he is killed by one of Piccolo’s minions. In Z, Freeza kills him and Goku becomes a Super Saiyajin. In GT, Super 17 kills him. Don’t worry, Krillin always gets wished back.

Let’s just note the spelling of Krillin’s name. His name can be written in English a plethora of ways. FUNimation uses Krillin, Viz uses Kururin, and Klylin, Kululin, and pretty much any other spelling that remotely sounds like his name are accepted. We all know who we’re talking about. This site will use the spelling “Krillin”.

This life story will cover only Dragonball Z, as that is the only series that I have seen. The only reminiscent of Dragonball in this biography will be the occasional references to when Goku was a small child. With that said, read on, to take in the first part of the biography.

Goku is one of the worlds most powerful warriors, and every time there has been a formidable challenge or foe come up against him, he has rose high above anything in his way. Goku is without a doubt, the strongest warrior in the galaxy by the end of Dragonball Z, with his carefree attitude, his compassionate heart, and his superb fighting skills; he is a force that’s not to be reckoned with.

As a child, Goku was born a low level soldier, who screamed incessantly in his bed. His father saw him as an outcast, and allowed him to be sent to the planet Earth, to conquer it. He fell off a cliff whilst there, and lost his ‘programming’, forgetting about hurting everyone, and becoming the kind hearted, compassionate warrior that we all know. He made some good friends in Krillen, Bulma, and a former enemy of his – Yamcha.

As his life went on, he became friends with the other Z fighters – Tien, Chao-zu, Piccolo and Vegeta. Born with a tail, it was removed because of the trouble that it caused, allowing Goku to transform into some kind of huge monster, which was the eventually downfall of his grandfather, despite the fact that Goku didn’t realize what he was doing. He accomplished a host of good things too in his lifetime, all of which are mentioned here, in this huge, detailed life story.

Goku has one of the biggest families in the whole series. Almost everyone who belongs to it are fantastic warriors, or at least well-known. His father was a Saiyan named Bardock, a great fighter who was the man who found out about Frieza’s plans to destroy the planet Vegeta (The Saiyan homeworld). He discarded Goku at first, but soon after regretted the decision, and wanted to meet with him again, but it was too late. Frieza had killed him.

His Earth father was an old man named Gohan, who found Goku after he crashed in his pod, and adopted him, caring for him a lot, and despite Goku’s harsh attitude at first, after he fell down a cliff and bumped his head, he soon grew to love his saviour. Gohan was very close to Goku, until his death, where he was crushed by a monster. The monster was Goku in his transformed state, where he had no control over his actions, and didn’t remember anything that had happened.

Goku married a young lady called Chi-Chi, a somewhat moody person, with black hair, and an over protective attitude towards her loved ones. She had been rescued by Goku when he was just a boy, where she had made him promise to marry her. A long time later, when they were both adults, they met at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai, where they fought, with Goku winning easily.

After the battle Chi-Chi reminded Goku of the promise they had made, and he agreed to marry her (when he had made the promise as a child, he thought that marriage was some kind of a food).   They grew old together, and had two children, both sons.

Goku’s first son was a young child who he named after his grandfather. This boy started off to be a shy, whining crybaby, but ended up being stronger than Goku at one point. The momentum of the training was quickly diminished as Chi-Chi made Gohan do more studying and less fighting.

The second son of Goku was a kid named Goten, someone with a beaming smile, and a comical personality. He was a winner with many of the fans, being dubbed as the ‘cutest’ character in DBZ.

Over the course of his life, Goku did a lot of training. This is the secret to his strength. Whenever his friends were in danger, he would train even harder, gaining a new level of power. He didn’t become the fighter that he was by himself though. Many people took him under their helm, and trained him to be fluent in the martial arts.

When Goku was a small boy, his Grandfather Gohan trained him. When he had learnt and become fairly prestigious in martial arts, he went on to be trained by Master Roshi, where he learnt a host of new techniques, including the popular KameHameHa attack. The next two trainers that he had were Kami the Namek, who allowed Goku to use his room of spirit and time, and Karin the cat, who taught Goku a great deal about calmness in battle.

His final trainer was possibly the most popular one – King Kai. He helped Goku become infinitely stronger, and taught him a wealth of new attacks and techniques, including the Spirit Bomb, and the Kai-o-ken.

Introduction
Ah, the pure-hearted Gohan, one of the most endearing and important characters in all of Dragonball Z. His quick wit and incredible power have helped him defeat many a foe. Though commonly gentle and shy, should he become angry, little can be done to overcome him.

Life Story
From the outset of the series, it sure doesn’t seem like Gohan would make a strong fighter. His mother, Chi Chi, forbade him to train in the martial arts, despite his father, Goku’s, wishes. Not to mention he’s a major bookworm, and a sheltered one, at that. So sheltered, in fact that Muten Roshi’s turtle scared him nearly to death the first time he saw it.It’s not too long though, until his life is thrown completely out of whack. At age five, Goku’s evil Saiya-jin brother Raditz shows up and kidnaps him, giving Goku reason to pursue, along with the mighty Piccolo.

The fight with Raditz was a tough one, leaving both Goku and Piccolo completely devastated. Just as all seemed lost, Gohan burst through the containment pod which had held him captive. In a burst of extreme anger, he rammed into the villain, overwhelming him to such an extent that victory was in reach. Piccolo used his deadly makankosappo technique, and ran both Raditz and Goku through, as he was restraining him from dodging. As he took his last few breaths, he commented on how foolish but noble Goku’s actions were. To this, Piccolo explained to him the powers of the dragonballs, and that within one year, he’d be alive and well once more.

It was Raditz however who had the last laugh. His ki reading scouter was also a communications link to his colleagues Vegeta and Nappa, both his Saiya-jin superiors. They were to come in one year’s time, take the dragonballs for themselves and obliterate all existence for their planet brokerage. As both Goku and Raditz died, Piccolo decided to take Gohan under his wing. He saw the potential within him, and knew that if he could help him control it, that he could possibly be their best hope for the future. And so starts a six month long journey for young Gohan. Piccolo drops him off in the woods, in an effort to break him from his wimpy personality. He keeps a lookout over him though, just in case something extremely bad was to happen. Through this hard training, Gohan learns quite a few things about real life.He makes friends with a robot and a dinosaur, which both have similarly catastrophic fates. He learns not to cry when treating wounds. He meets up with a village of orphans. And most importantly, he learns that running home to his mother won’t solve the problem at hand. With that, he turns back, and sees Piccolo. They proceed to train for the remaining six months. One full year has passed. The Saiya-jin has arrived. Goku, immensely stronger from training under the North Kaio while in Heaven, has been wished back to life and is on his way home. The journey will take two days. The battle gets off to a start with Nappa sending out six Saibamen warriors. One kills Yamucha, and Kuririn is so enraged, he shoots a Kikusan-ha to destroy all but one. Gohan is incredibly scared, despite his newfound discipline, and doesn’t notice the final Saibaman lunging towards him. Luckily, Piccolo, who has a kinder heart from experiencing Gohan’s innocence, shoots a mouth blast and obliterates the monster.

Nappa begins his assault, killing off several of the Z soldiers. Eventually only Gohan, Piccolo and Kuririn are left standing. Once again, Gohan is terrified of the events going on around him, and is increasingly ashamed that he can’t find the courage to fight. Nappa uses this opportunity to try and kill Gohan, by shooting a huge energy wave at him, but Piccolo steps in from of the blast and gives his own life in order to save the boy.

This rightfully pisses Gohan off and He shoots a Masenko at Nappa that doesn’t quite kill him, but lets him and Vegeta know that he’s not your average kid. With Gohan’s trump card used up, and Kuririn beaten senseless, it seems all hope is lost, until Goku finally makes it back. He returns the two weak heroes’ health with the restorative senzu seeds. Goku quickly defeats Nappa with the Kaioken technique, and after instructing Gohan to return home, he and Vegeta fly off to fight for the fate of the planet.

The battle between the two superpowers is turning out for the worst and Gohan senses this. He disobeys his father’s wishes and returns alongside Kuririn to the battlefield. Upon arrival they discover Vegeta, who is now transformed to the powerful Oozaru were-monkey state, attempting to kill Goku. Eventually, Vegeta’s tail is cut off, suppressing his transformation.

Still, the battle wasn’t over. All of the warriors’ power was tapped, and Vegeta was still going strong. But there was one small detail that Vegeta failed to look in to. Just as Goku was a Saiya-jin, so was his son, and that meant he could go Oozaru as well. Looking up at the artificial moon created by Vegeta, Gohan instantly transformed, and though he was unable to fully control his powers, overwhelmed the villain. He actually succeeded in cutting off Gohan’s tail, but he hadn’t quite reverted completely, and his huge mass landed directly on top of Vegeta, crushing him.

After letting Vegeta go, wishing better things of him, the warriors were faced with a new challenge. It was understood that with the death of Piccolo, the God of Earth, Kami would also die, since they were linked together. This resulted in the destruction of the dragonballs, and any hope of resurrecting their fallen allies. Vegeta however had divulged information of a planet that contained another set of dragonballs, Piccolo’s home, Namek.

With Goku still recovering, Gohan, Kuririn, and Bulma set off alone to Namek, and searched for the dragonballs. All seemed to be going fine until they found out that a sinister force known as Freezer was also searching for the dragonballs. He was doing a far better job than them, but killing nearly every Namek on the planet. This wasn’t a great time for our heroes to say the least, because on top of the Freezer threat, Vegeta had arrived with his own wild ambitions.

Freezer got wind of what was going on around him and sent for the Ginyu Tokusentai, his personal elite squadron of fighters. They were to kill all that opposed him. It was decided that Vegeta should join with the others in an effort to defeat the squadron.

The fight is going pretty bad. All of the Ginyu have strength that overwhelms the Z warriors, in particular Recoome, who has taken out everyone but… big surprise here… Gohan! Once again, Gohan showcases his immense strength. He puts up a rather commendable fight against Recoome, but he simply doesn’t have the battle experience to do enough damage.

But it never fails that Goku, fully recovered and fresh from training at 100 g’s, comes to save the day. After giving each of the Z soldiers a senzu, he reads Kuririn’s mind, learns of all that has went down on the planet, and promptly kicks Recoome’s ass. The other heroes fly away as he finishes the job.

After fights with the remaining Ginyu force, and his own father, inhabited by Captain Ginyu, all is straight for Gohan once more. Vegeta lends both him and Kuririn some Saiya-jin armor, and puts Goku into a recovery chamber.

With the dragonballs back in their possession, Gohan and Dende, a Namek boy he had saved earlier, attempted to call upon the dragon Porunga. Using the required Namek tongue, Dende used the first of three wishes to wish back Piccolo, and the second to bring him to Namek. Suddenly, the dragon disappears, and it is realized that the dragon’s creator has passed away.

Suddenly, Freezer shows up, and a battle ensues. Piccolo is the one to match Freezer in strength, as his transformation made him far too powerful for the others to handle. Freezer is fed up and transforms AGAIN, too overwhelming even for the newly suped up Piccolo. Lo and behold, Gohan once again busts the skills when the time is needed. He fires a Masenko so powerful that it nearly destroys the almighty Freezer in one quick wave. Sadly, he counters it, and prepares for his final transformation.

About this time, Goku recovers, and meets up with the others on the battlefield. Vegeta is killed, and after Goku buries the fallen warrior honorably, he proceeds to Freezer. The others can do little but watch as the battle rages. Gohan finds it incredible that his own father can match up to such a beast. Through many power shifts and binds, Goku is seemingly able to defeat Freezer with a Genki Dama. They all gather on an island and recollect after the battle. Suddenly, Freezer rises up, and Shoots a blast piercing Piccolo’s heart, then he levitates Kuririn into the air and blows him up out of will.

Next comes the famous SSJ transformation scene from Goku. He tells Gohan to go back to his ship and return home, so he flies off to do so. We don’t see much of Gohan after this. The Earth dragonballs, restored after Piccolo and Kami came back to life, are used to wish back all those killed by Freezer. This makes the Namek balls return, and they are used to send everyone on Namek to Earth, sans Freezer and Goku. In the end, Goku defeats Freezer, and the Planet blows up. It’s unknown if he survived.

Back on Earth, a wish is made to return the rest of the Z warriors back to life, but Goku cannot return, since he never actually died. The only thing left to do… is wait.

With Goku gone, Gohan had no one to train under, so he got back to his studies. Wasn’t long though, till Freezer showed up again as a cyborg. He was planning to destroy the world, but was foiled when Trunks sliced him to bits. All of this led up to the return of Goku, and the android conflict.

Eventually Gohan and Goku head into the Room of Spirit and Time, where one day is equal to one year. Their goal was to become strong enough to defeat all of the androids, including Cell, the most menacing of all. Goku’s primary objective was to drive Gohan into Super Saiya-jin mode, as he certainly had the power, but had yet to find a trigger. Gohan tried his best, but was unable, due to Goku’s gentle nature towards him. He finally convinced Goku to train him more ferociously, and while in a ki battle, remembered many key events in his life, thus giving him all the push he needed.

The Cell Game approached. It was a tournament that would lead to Earth’s end if Cell were to gain victory. Goku’s strength was equal to Cell’s but due to Cell’s regenerative capabilities, he was slightly outmatched. He gave up, and passed the fleece to Gohan. This shocked many of the Z warriors, most notably Piccolo, who was very angry that he gave no interest in his own son’s well being. Gohan wasn’t really interested in fighting, because he wasn’t sure what would happen should he exert any force. This interested Cell, so to evoke this new power he let loose seven Cell Juniors, pint sized versions of himself that shared his strength. The Cell Juniors attacked all of the warriors, and Gohan’s anger began to increase.

Among the spectators was Mr. Satan, a rather weak fighter who insisted all that was going on was a cheap trick. He noticed the head of Android 16, a good-natured android who had been destroyed earlier by cell, on the ground. He was still barely alive, and asked Mr. Satan to throw his head out onto the battlefield. Mr. Satan reluctantly agreed, and threw him right next to Gohan. They conversed, and 16 told Gohan that it was important that he release his anger. He told him to hold nothing back, since there was no way to save the planet if he did. Cell abruptly silenced the damaged android, crushing his head in one bloody stomp.

Suddenly, something snapped inside Gohan, he held nothing back, and in a mighty blast of rage, he transformed into a yet unachieved level of Saiya-jin… Super Saiya-jin level 2. He quickly and mercilessly killed all of the Cell Juniors, with one kick each, and toppled Cell with a one-two punch combination. Cell, utterly infuriated that a boy could defeat him with such ease, set himself to self-destruct, along with the Earth. Goku acted quickly, using instantaneous movement to teleport both himself and Cell to Kaio’s planet, destroying both them and Kaio.

The warriors gathered, still shocked about Goku’s demise, but happy the fight was over. Suddenly, a thin streak of light came from the heavens, piercing Trunks through the heart and killing him almost instantly. Cell was back, and stronger than ever. His regeneration had helped him once again. The loss of his son caused Vegeta to burst out of control, resulting in an all out offensive on Cell. The attack was insufficient, and Cell soon had the opportunity to shoot a blast that would’ve easily done him in, had not Gohan stepped in front of it.

Although it didn’t kill Gohan, one of his arms was badly damaged, and rendered useless. Cell, now having the chance, shot a Kamehameha, while Gohan countered with his own one-handed version. Through the helping words of his father from the afterlife, Gohan was able to find the spirit within to overcome Cell’s blast, and completely disintegrate him.

Flash forward seven years, Gohan is now in his teens, and in high school. He’s trying to keep a low profile now, since the whole Super Saiya-jin thing would cause quite a few problems in the daily world. It’s tough though, since there are plenty of bad things going on in the world, and there’s no real hero to protect it. So, because of this, he decides to become a superhero the Great Saiyaman. He has Bulma to make him a costume, so the whole low profile thing is in reach. It doesn’t take too long though, until the daughter of Mr. Satan, Videl realizes that Gohan is the Great Saiyaman. But she keeps his secret, since Gohan agrees to teach her how to fly.

Let’s move on… (this saga is too friggin’ long to get everything in there.)

Anyway, when the main villain, Buu, shows up, Gohan doesn’t stand much of a chance against him until the Kaioshin Rou powers him up and makes him ‘mystic’. This brings out all of Gohan’s potential power, but doesn’t allow him to go Super Saiya-jin, supposedly because all of that power would destroy the planet. He is then able to beat the living crap out of Buu… that is until he absorbs Piccolo and Gotenks. He then reverses the match, beating up Gohan, and absorbing him. So much for him until Goku saves the day once again.

Well, with the Buu situation over with, Gohan and Videl fall in love and get married. They have one child, Pan who is 1/4 Saiya-jin. In the end, Gohan stops fighting altogether, and settles down, a family man. He becomes a scholar, finally fulfilling his mother’s wishes.
