Bright Noa is a character from the anime series Gundam. In the anime, he is only mentioned as Earth-born. In the beginning of in Mobile Suit Gundam, Bright is just an officer candidate without a commission from the Earth Federation Space Forces but takes command as the surviving highest ranking military personnel. Bright’s commands include the White Base, the shuttle Temptation, AEUG’s Argama and Nahel Argama, and Londo Bell’s Ra Cailum.

Bright Noa was voiced by Hirotaka Suzuoki (Japanese), Chris Kalhoon (English dub of original series and Char’s Counterattack) and Dave Kelly (English dub of Zeta Gundam).

Bright is a loyal and dedicated soldier both in war and peace. He enforces strict military discipline and regulations, yet he never hesitate to make the morally right decision for the better of all, even if he has to disobey orders from his superiors. He showed his character in Zeta Gundam when he defected to AEUG after he lost hope in the corrupt Earth Federation, and again when he decided to act pre-emptively during the Londo Bell-Neo Zeon encounter in Char’s Counterattack.

He is considered to be the most experienced field commander in mobile suit warfare, relying on standard and reliably proven tactics rather than acts of bravado. He is often granted with top-notch military personnels and equipments under his command, such as Amuro Ray, Char Aznable, and Kamille Bidan, but he has proven himself that he can service in unfavorable situations such as in the early part of Mobile Suit Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam Double Zeta Gundam.

Bright is not a Newtype like those he served with, though he had a single occurrence of “hearing” a request from Amuro Ray at the end of the One Year War. Many would consider that Bright is one of the most successful field commander in UC Gundam timeline, as he has led his ships and fleets victorious in the One Year War, The AEUG-Titans/Gryps War, The First Neo Zeon War, and The Second Neo Zeon War.

He marries his advisor and best friend, Mirai Yashima, in 0080, an eventual crew of White Base, and they have two children, Cheimin and Hathaway Noa.

Amuro Ray (Amuro Rei?) is a fictional character from the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam and its sequels, Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam and Char’s Counterattack, voiced by Tōru Furuya (Japanese), Brad Swaile (English dub of the original TV series and Char’s Counterattack), Dylan Tully (English dub of Movies I-III) and Matthew Erickson (English dub of Zeta Gundam).

Amuro is the hero of the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam. He is the son of Tem Ray, the project leader for the Earth Federation’s Project V, which produces the prototype mobile suits Gundam, Guncannon, and Guntank to combat the Principality of Zeon’s Zaku. At the beginning of the Mobile Suit Gundam TV series, Amuro is a 15-year-old civilian, along with his friends Fraw Bow and Hayato Kobayashi, living in Side 7, one of the few space colonies untouched by the One Year War at the time. Amuro is a talented amateur engineer, who as a hobby designed the basketball-sized talking robot Haro.

Born on Earth, Amuro’s early childhood was spent on the planet with his parents, Tem and Kamaria Ray, until Amuro’s father was called up by the EFSF to do weapons research under the guise of colony construction. Though Amuro’s father wanted his mother to come with them, she declined (it was implied that she was having an affair at the time). When Amuro reunites with his mother during the One Year War there is some animosity between them, as Kamaria could not tolerate her son taking part in the violence of a military life.

Once Amuro and his father made it to space, Tem was often not home for long periods of time. Amuro became a social misfit and kept to himself, retreating to spend his time in the room with gadgets. His neighbor Fraw Bow took it upon herself to take care of him. This trend continued into the One Year War period.
